Hi, I'm Amran Ali-Awale, author of Sins of a SEN Mum, a memoir born from my own lived experience of raising children with additional needs and navigating the realities of the SEND system.
I am the proud mum of three incredible children, two of whom are neurodivergent.
I am also currently on my own neurodivergent assessment pathway, which has given me an even deeper understanding of the importance of acceptance, inclusion and embracing the way we all experience the world differently.
Alongside being an author, I am the Co-Founder and Director of SENtastic CIC, where I work alongside families to provide support, advocacy and education for parents of children with special educational needs and disabilities.
My mission is to ensure that no parent feels alone in their journey and that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Practice, but my greatest qualification comes from lived experience.
Every challenge my family has faced has strengthened my determination to fight for better support, greater understanding and lasting change for SEND families.
Whether I'm speaking publicly, writing, advocating, or supporting parents one-to-one, my goal remains the same: to use my voice to help others find theirs. I truly believe that every child deserves to be seen, heard and understood, and that no parent should ever have to fight the system alone.
