Director's Jenny Payne and Emma Dalmayne did a house visit today to a mum in Thamesmead who has 4 sons in a 2 bedroom 7th floor flat.

They are with Peabody New Homes @Peabody

and have been told they have to wait 4 weeks for a bidding number.

Greenwich Council have said 6 months for a bidding number.

This is not acceptable.

This is the email we sent them today, below are photos of the balcony and the scaffolding her son has tried to get out onto:

Dear Letting Team,

My name is Emma Dalmayne, I am writing to you from Autistic Inclusive Meets, an Autistic led organisation based in Woolwich.

We are currently supporting B_______and her four sons _________ DOB ______, ________ DOB, _________ DOB and ________ DOB who are currently housed in ____ Beveridge Court, Saunders way, Thamesmead SE28 8NG

Three of her sons _______, _____ and _____ are disabled.

_______ does not yet walk and is being referred for possible autism and Global Developmental Delay, he needs 1.1 support 24 hours a day to keep him safe.

_______is ADHD and is on medication, and has Complex Language Disorder. He communicates through makaton and an iPad. He has an EHCP and has a 1.1 in school.

Her son ______ is Autistic and has Global Developmental Delay has extreme sensory needs and requires 1.1 support 24 hours a day to keep him safe.

_______ also has no spoken word language, and B____ is currently in the process of obtaining an Augmented Alternative Communication application to install on his iPad to aid his communication.

______ has no concept of danger, he will run out into traffic in busy roads if he is startled by loud sounds due to sensory overwhelm. He uses ear defenders and will also sink to the floor, unable to move when in shutdown.

_______ is in danger of losing his life in the property the family are currently in. He is very strong for his age.

He loves to climb, and the windows swing wide open. He is at risk of falling which could be fatal. There is currently scaffolding up outside the balcony as well which makes it easy to climb onto, there is a ladder that is accessible.

_______ has tried several times to do climb out onto the scaffolding. There is thin wire mesh that is not strong enough to stop him.

Please see attached photos.

Please see this tragic case here of an Autistic child who fell from a window in the council accomodation he was in, his mother had begged the council to put locks on the windows:

The family are currently in a two bedroom flat on the seventh floor, we highly recommend that they be given a four bedroom, as _______ is ______ and needs his privacy,

_______ desperately needs his own room with his sensory equipment; so he can calm and self regulate in his own space without interruptions or distracting noise.

_______ has difficulty falling asleep and keeps his siblings awake, despite being on Melatonin to help him sleep so needs his own room, ______ can be in with B______though ideally B______ would have her own room for privacy.

______ does not sleep through the night he gets up frequently with meltdowns, he has self injurious behaviour and attacks himself, B_____ and his siblings. He is also incontinent and is still in nappies so needs changes throughout the night, for this he needs privacy.

______and _____ ideally need a garden so they can have a trampoline and sensory circuit to burn off some energy and ground themselves

We ask that you move B____ and her boys out of the accomodation they are currently in urgently, and house them.

They need to be kept in the Greenwich Borough within reach of their support networks, including the boys schools, the boys father and B_____ mum, their GP, and _____ and ______ Paediatricians.

The family attend two of our social and sensory groups weekly.

B______ is suffering from depression and is not sleeping, due to the fear of ______ waking up and getting to the windows or balcony and falling to his death.

Please let us know how soon you intend to help B____and her family, this family are in a very dangerous situation.

We would also ask B______ be included in your reply and that she is given her case number.

Thank you,

Emma Dalmayne
